Workplace heat emergency
Target:
General population
Dehydration, disorientation, cramps, exhaustion. These are just a few of the most common symptoms of exposure to very high temperatures. Safety is a hot topic that requires a great deal of attention, to ensure that people who work in hazardous conditions do not suffer significant health effects. But it can’t be just about individual worker resilience. Taking action is a collective responsibility.
Employers must provide drinking water, information and training and allow breaks. Workers must protect themselves by adopting the correct behaviour, and promptly recognising and acting on any symptoms.
