Civil invalidity

Civil invalidity (invalidità civile) is a legal term that refers to a person’s reduced working or functional capacity, as determined by a medical board. 
Civil invalidity basically concerns a person's ability to perform certain activities, especially at work, and is certified for administrative purposes. Depending on the recognised disability rating, expressed as a percentage, individuals are eligible for financial benefits, support measures, and protections. It is important to remember that not all individuals with disabilities are considered invalid under official terms, and vice versa.
In particular, Law No. 118 of 30 March 1971 recognises civil invalidity status in cases involving a permanent impairment of a person’s working capacity or the continued difficulty to perform functions specific to their age, for both minors and adults.
